Chipped or Broken Teeth
Restoring Your Child’s Smile with Precision and Care
If your child has chipped or broken a tooth, it’s important to have it evaluated as soon as possible — even minor damage can affect the health and development of the tooth. A chipped tooth is a common pediatric dental emergency that we treat regularly.
At Light Dental Pediatrics in Puyallup, we offer a variety of treatment options to restore both the appearance and function of your child’s tooth. Depending on the severity of the damage, Dr. Micah may recommend:
- Dental bonding to repair small chips
- Crowns to protect and restore larger fractures
- Veneers for aesthetic correction in select cases
Our goal is to make the repair process gentle, efficient, and stress-free, helping your child feel confident and comfortable every step of the way.
What to Do If Your Child Knocks Out a Tooth
A Time-Sensitive Pediatric Dental Emergency
A knocked-out tooth is a true dental emergency that requires immediate attention to increase the chances of successful re-implantation.
If your child’s tooth has been knocked out:
- Do not scrub or clean the tooth.
- Immediately place the tooth in a glass of milk .
Milk has the ideal nutrients and pH balance to help preserve the tooth. - If milk is not available, store the tooth in a moist environment — such as a sealed container with your child’s saliva or a damp paper towel.
Time is critical. The sooner you seek care, the better the outcome.
Dr. Micah will perform a thorough evaluation and, if possible, attempt to re-implant the tooth.
Dental Infections & Abscesses in Children
Urgent Care for Pain, Swelling, and Oral Infections
Dental infections and abscesses are serious pediatric dental emergencies that require immediate attention. If your child is experiencing facial swelling, swelling of the gums, fever, or severe tooth pain, these may be signs of a dental abscess — a localized infection that can quickly spread and lead to more serious health issues if left untreated.
Dr. Micah provides comprehensive emergency care for dental infections. Treatment may include:
- Draining the abscess
- Prescribing antibiotics
- Performing a root canal when necessary to save the tooth and eliminate the infection
We understand that emergency visits can be stressful, especially for young patients. Our team uses gentle, child-friendly techniques and offers safe sedation options when needed to ensure your child’s comfort and reduce anxiety.
Your child’s health and comfort are our top priorities. If you suspect a dental infection or abscess, don’t wait—contact us immediately for same-day emergency care.
